I was going through and cleaning up my worktable and found a 1939 Bulova that my Mother had given to my Father the year before they were married. To my amazement I wound it up and it still runs. I would like to get the back off and clean the face and crystal at least. I do not feel qualified to take this apart for complete cleaning. How do I get the back off without doing damage?

David: Look at the back of the case on the stainless part. One side of it should have a little lip where it meets the case. If so, just use a small pen knife or something similar and gently pry it up. It should come right open. Marty

the lip shoul be under one of those spring bars.

Exactly where it was. What is recommended for cleaning the face?

try to buff the crystal first . As for the dial mild soap on no lint cloth but start in area that will not be visable when cover is on in case some goes wrong.
