Damaskeening patterns
Can anyone explain to me the meaning of the different patterns of damaskeening on the Illinois watches? I have never understood the difference in the meaning of terms like "Bright Spotted" and "Sunburst," "First Circular," etc. Has anything ever been published to define these terms? Some of the Bunn Specials that are described as having different patterns look much the same to me.

I believe the late Bill Meggers who wrote the Illinois book published by Ehrhardt invented the names & numbers for the patterns we use.

Perhaps some one has posted a sample of each pattern in the past in one post.

Usually what I do when I am trying to figure out what a certain pattern looks like I search that pattern name here at IHC to look at the different examples.

Not sure if my answer was any help.

I searched this site & the web to see if I could find examples of the patterns listed by Meggers, hopefully the owners of the watches do not mind.
