posted February 18, 2007 12:59
Hi, Does anyone know the Best Fit or other replacement part system numbers for balance staffs on the WWII Seth Thomas Navy Clocks. There are three platfrom escapements, R-18565 (Old Platform), R-20666 (New Platform) and R-20695 (Elgin)? Also would like to buy any of these platform balances that need new staffs. email: 36cab@verizon.net Thanks, Mike

The ROUND platforms are made by Elgin, and I believe that a 16s Elgin staff fits. The older, rectangular platforms used staffs and other parts that were not exactly mass produced, but were custom fitted together during final assembly and testing. I believe that Ron Bechler in San Jose told me about the Elgin part, so he may have the actual staff number.
