Mermod-Jaccard watches ... "Click" to Login or Register
posted February 09, 2004 14:39
Over the years many different interesting and high-grade watches were produced and marked for this firm by Illinois, Hamilton, Hampden, Elgin, and others.

Thought the members might like to see one of my favorites - an Illinois 16 size hunting-case Sangamo grade made for this firm and marked "Perfection" on the movement ...

Fred

p.s. I will post a few other Jaccard's watches when I get a chance to photo them, and would love to see any other collector's examples pictured in this thread.

Here is one from Elgin. It is a 12-size (of course) 23-jewel grade 190. It was a little difficult to get the gilt lettering to show up legibly with all of the damasceening, but it is marked "Mermod, Jaccard & Co." "St. Louis" and "Superior" [scanner image]

.. is marked the same as the movement. It is in a gold hunting case marked "Mermod, Jaccard & King Jewelry Co. St.Louis -- New York"

Photo sent to me from Marty Carah, an 18 size Illinois grade 101 private labeled for Jaccard (dial is single-sunk with "Illinois Watch Co." marking)...

Here is another nice example of a Mermod Jaccard pocket watch.

Here is the information from The Elgin Watch Collectors Site for this auction watch.

Sorry for the difficulty reading the movement in my photo, it is marked "Made Expressly For Jaccard's Kansas City, By Hamilton Watch Co., 21 Jewels".

Saw one 3 days ago at the Orlando regional (same serial number photoed in the Ehrhardt books), but the dial was atrocious. A shame since anything a shade above awful and I probably would have went for it.

A 940 was purchased in the parking lot at last years Orlando show. It brought quite a bit and also had a bad dial. I wonder if it was the same watch you saw?

A contribution of Mermard Jaccard from my own collection. Dial is not the best, but it is still a nice watch overall. As you can see by the movement it has not been cleaned or adjusted for quite a while. Someday!
