The American Smelting and Refining Co. and the Anglo-Newfoundland Development Co joined in 1927 to form the Buchans Mining Co and built a branch from Buchans junction to Millertown Junction where it was transferred to the NL railway.
The Buchan Mine closed down in 1976 and the railway was removed in 1977.
