Military 992E BU. AERO. U.S.Navy "Click" to Login or Register
posted
This watch is the "Uncle" to Fred Hougham's Military 992B.

The serial number is 2,617,625. It has the regular military marking on case back (Base Metal) except Ser. No. 167-37. I will get with the Library and post more on it when I find out.

This watch is pictured on page 27 of the Military Timepieces book published by Chapter 143 Society of Military Horologist c2001.

The description in the book states:
quote:
Made as a prototype for the Navy, this 16 size Model 992 watch was used by Admiral Richard Byrd durning his Arctic and Antartic explorations.
The only problem is that it doesn't say how many were produced.

Lindell, please consider a new topic section for Military Timepieces. After Bill Bricker's death FNAWCC 1923-2001, the military chapter 143 has given up. He was the president of this chapter since 1995 and the newsletter editor.
He died of heart failure on the way home from the National Convention in New Orleans in 2001.

The volume of Military Timepieces that Hamilton alone produced is overwhelming.
