Effective Nonprofit Management Course taught by Villanova Professor Lauren Miltenberger. (February 2018)

As part of Professor Miltenberger's course, she required students to work with certain pre-approved nonprofit organizations.

Sparky chose to be associated with the "Joy of Sox" organization that distributes socks to the homeless. Sparky and her team worked with the founder Tom Costello, Jr. using class analysis and suggested critiques.

Sparky stayed on as "Software and Social Media Intern"

And she participated in this event on campus Villanova Students Help The Joy of Sox Posted: September 15, 2019 by Tom Costello Jr.

Villanova University Master of Public Administration April 27, 2018 (Villanova Website)

Ann Riddle is a new student and member of the Villanova MPA community.

"Abraham Lincoln’s statue, located in the Rotunda of the United States Capitol, depicts him holding the Emancipation Proclamation in his extended right hand. His statue is my favorite because Lincoln looks as if he is passing the role of governing to future leaders. Villanova’s Public Administration program is helping me learn how to lead in public service and I look forward to using those lessons and skills after graduation to become an efficient and effective government employee."

Public Policy Intern, Committee of Seventy (Villanova Website)

"During the Summer and Fall 2018 semesters, I interned with the Committee of Seventy, a nonpartisan organization that focuses upon improving upon government in the City of Philadelphia and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As a public policy intern, I researched a plethora of issues. My work combined the theoretical with the practical, which was a great component of my internship experience. My primary project was researching the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority (PICA)—created to help Philadelphia with its budget crisis in the 1990s—and to determine if the Committee of Seventy should advocate for its continuation since PICA will go out of existence in 2023."

As you can see, Sparky is listed in the program for her 4.0 GPA for her first year Master of Public Administration!

(Villanova Master of Political Science does not have a Honor Society otherwise she would have received one from that department!)
