Effective Nonprofit Management Course taught by Villanova Professor Lauren Miltenberger. (February 2018) As part of Professor Miltenberger's course, she required students to work with certain pre-approved nonprofit organizations. Sparky chose to be associated with the "Joy of Sox" organization that distributes socks to the homeless. Sparky and her team worked with the founder Tom Costello, Jr. using class analysis and suggested critiques. Public Policy Intern, Committee of Seventy (Villanova Website) "During the Summer and Fall 2018 semesters, I interned with the Committee of Seventy, a nonpartisan organization that focuses upon improving upon government in the City of Philadelphia and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As a public policy intern, I researched a plethora of issues. My work combined the theoretical with the practical, which was a great component of my internship experience. My primary project was researching the Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority (PICA)—created to help Philadelphia with its budget crisis in the 1990s—and to determine if the Committee of Seventy should advocate for its continuation since PICA will go out of existence in 2023." | |||
