Jeweling collets, what are they for? "Click" to Login or Register

Hi,
Every once in awhile while looking on ebay I come across a tool that looks interesting, but I have no idea what it is or how its used. An example of this are these jeweling chucks/collets. Can someone please tell me what they are used for and how they are used?
