Hi, I have a few watch movements with bad staffs and wanted to learn how to replace them. I found out that the old staff can be removed with a staking set and a balance staff remover. I now have one that did not come with any instructions. I was wondering on the correct usage of it. Can anyone explain how to use it, or point me to instructions. Thanks in advance. Jim

Hi Jim If you haven't tried to search the site for information you might give that a try. Here is a link to a post David Abbe did earlier this year that might help https://ihc185.infopop.cc/eve/f...26047761/m/798100603 Here is another with some info; https://ihc185.infopop.cc/eve/f...=107106372#107106372 Tom

Thanks Tom, my brain must not be working, I should have searched first. It also looks like I may need a special punch or stake for it. All I have is the piece that looks like a metal tobacco pipe.

No problem asking & each time a question is asked more information comes up, I just had remembered seeing some posts this year about that. Good luck with your adventure. Tom
