I have a tool that has a gauge on it and is made of wood and metal. Any ideas on what this is supposed to do?

Any idea on what this tool does, when it was made, or what company it might be for?

Thanks,

John

Since no one else will muster up....

I would guess a level probably used in application to see which way water is flowing.

That's what I would guess. Perhaps others will expound or blow me out of the water.

regards,
bb

A member at a local watch club said it was most likely a gauge made at the Elgin Watch Company. There is a part missing that goes in the across from the pointer that holds a wheel. My understanding is that this is a tool to measure the tolerances of the escape wheel. He said the pointer could be changed out to measure other wheels. They would change out the brass plug as needed.
