Ernie Loga was kind enough to put these charts together based on the Grade of the the movement and the yearly production. They are both linked at South-Bend Catalogs and Literature Hosted by IHC185 for convenience.

Here are direct links to the PDF files:

Chart of South-Bend Grades, Year By Year

South-Bend Grades Produced In Each Year.

The information was taken from our lookup database. The two charts are an interesting way of looking at the history of the company and the evolution of the movement grades and production.

Ernie/Frank,

Thanks very much for posting this data. It really helps when trying to learn which grades are relatively scarce or common.

One correction, on the Production by Grade table, the Grade 407 is listed as 3100 produced, but I think this is supposed to be 30000. The totals will need to be readjusted also.

Best,

John III

John:

You are absolutely right. The total production of grade 407 should be 31,000.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

A corrected chart has been emailed to Frank for posting to his list.

Here is a new link to the South Bend By grade chart. It was upgraded this fall and now includes the number of Jewels in each grade.

Your grades produced in each year seems to be incorrect as I have a 291 that was produced in 1907 #482200
