I'm disassembling a Waltham 1860 KW 16s movement. How do you remove the canon pinion and center staff? It appears that the nub sticking out of the canon pinion is part of the pinion, and not a pin to be driven out. Any help is appreciated. I've attached some photos.
Thanks

I usually put a little oil around the top of the canon pinion just to loosen things up. Take a bench block and center the square of the pin over an appropriate hole and tap very carefully directly on the end of the pin (extending at the CP ) and that should drive the pin right through the CP through the center wheel and out.
