Accutron 214 spaceview don´t work´s "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hi everybody.

Yesterday I purchased a old accutron(N4)

Today I purchased a battery(Renata 387S) with the spacer.

Putted into the watch. + down. Negative up.

But watch don´t works or make noise.

I see the watch and don´t see any piece broken or not solder.

Movement is clean and don´t see marks of a screwdriver or another tool.

I know it´s difficult to say. But can I help me.

Whats the firsts part that I must check if accutron watch don´t works?

Thanks

Manuel

Hello Juan,

Welcome to IHC185 we are glad to have you with us!

Let us know whether this is a 214 (sets on back) or 218 (crown at 4:00 position) movement. Go back over your work, look for any sign of dirt, clean the contacts carefully, use a pencil eraser. One more thought, after assembly if it is still not running try tapping on the case, often that starts them to running.

There is always the fear someone before you put a battery in the wrong way, hopefully that is not the problem.

Thanks Lindell.

It´s a 214 movement. Whe I bought it. I saw a incorrect battery putted in it.

And I saw the watch at least 1 year(before purchased) with this incorrect battery.
I don´t see signs of corrosion or any part broken.

Incorrect battery. Can be the problem that incorrect battery make a dead circuit?

I have the movement complete. If I put a battery, but no gasket, no hand setting piece. Watch must hum or only must hum if watch is completed assembly.

I tested the watch in a Renata battery tester and watch never send pulsations.

Thanks
Manuel

Juan,
You said that there is no hand setting piece. A 214 is back set. Is it in the case or is it just a movment. Post a picture of the watch if you can. Sometimes you have to give the watch a tap to get the tuning forks going, as it mentions in the 214 manual.

Hi again. I putted watch again in case. In the afternoon I will send pics.

How can I chech if the magnets of the tunning fork works?
I putted a little piece of metal near the the two tins of tunning fork and I never feel the magnetic atraction.

So I think that can be the problem or circuit.

Because if was problem of the wheel or pivots watch must hum no?
A accutron don´t hums when haven´t battery or have a electrical problem or a object blocking tunning fork(not my problem)

I´m correct?
Thanks
Manuel
