Hello Melvin , I have used that site but didn't investigate it for parts, when I replace them it's easy cause I have the one right there but matching one up with some of the info we have now days is somewhat confusing and I appreciate the extra info, one last question I know sometimes the pocket watch database has info for certain watches that isn't correct completely, is the parts log there more up to date and correct? If so you have taught me another good place to match up parts to certain watches that is better than some of the other places for info..a secondary source is a good thing..
Thanks and regards

Hi Melvin,

Someone has already used a #857 staff in correct for balance wheel height. I have since found that there is a minimum of 8 different variations in the #857 Elgin staff. Makes for a right royal pain in the butt Big Grin

Hello bila,
Can you give us the approx. Length of the staff that was in the watch, the 857 also is listed as a short hub and long hub, which affects the length..is the original staff to short or to long....thanks
Short hub is 5.97
Long hub is 6.10
Other variations exist in this staff.

Not actually standard Gary, different hub heights, waist lengths which affects roller table height and also two sizes in collets.

Hello bila, I do have a few I think that matches yours, these are the hard ones to find because mostly been used out of all staff sets over time, how many do you need bila? I'll just send them to you no cost...
