Found this oen in the box the steel rod is held as shown by a spring in the shaft, the penny shaped plate has a hole in it about 2mm forward the end of the rod. I thought a pallet warmer for a while but no use for that!.
any ideas?

Could it possibly be a "Blueing Pan", for Watch Hands, or screws?

Hi Frank,
I am still puzzled, the pin sits about 2mm high of the plate so has to be pushing something, shown at the end of it travel in picture

Could it be for holding a pallet fork when shellacking in jewels?
