It seems to me that it would be more difficult and costly to make wolf tooth gears for winding. Is there really any advantage to it?

Steve, Wolf-tooth winding wheel was invented by Lepine and was popular with quality Swiss watchmakers in the 19th century, and was thought to give smoother winding and increased strength, but in fact offers no advantage.

Thanks Cooksey. I guess any difference is purely cosmetic, but some sellers advertise this as a real selling point!
