Was wondering if anyone has knowledge of a watch maker from Aberdeen. I found a fusee marked on the movement: Jas Hardy 41 Union Street Aberdeen.

Hardy James of Aberdeen. This clock and watch maker, born in 1839 in Aberdeen, was working there about the 1860 to 1895 period. By the end of this time, hewas trading as James Hardy & Co.
In th 1881 census he was 42, unmarried and living with his mother a 1 Adelphi, Aberdeen. His occupation was given as 'Watch Maker employing 4 Girls 1 Boy'.

The only secret is to get the search engines work proper.
In this case if you search 'jas hardy aberdeen watchmaker brings ~1500 results and the hit is hard to find.
If the search term is '"jas hardy" aberdeen watchmaker' there are 3 results and 1 hit.

Just a combination of technique, knowledge and luck! (and some training)
