Kenneth Hardy James of Aberdeen. This clock and watch maker, born in 1839 in Aberdeen, was working there about the 1860 to 1895 period. By the end of this time, hewas trading as James Hardy & Co. In th 1881 census he was 42, unmarried and living with his mother a 1 Adelphi, Aberdeen. His occupation was given as 'Watch Maker employing 4 Girls 1 Boy'. Regards, Gerald

Wow... Thank You Gerald, I looked for an hour or so and could'nt find anything on Mr. Hardy. How did you find this so quick? thanks again

Kenneth The only secret is to get the search engines work proper. In this case if you search 'jas hardy aberdeen watchmaker brings ~1500 results and the hit is hard to find. If the search term is '"jas hardy" aberdeen watchmaker' there are 3 results and 1 hit. Just a combination of technique, knowledge and luck! (and some training) Regards, Gerald
