I would see what I could find for you but you will need to type out what is written on the movement, I can not read it from the photos.

Thank You Tom, Watkin then something is scratched out as if this guy does not work there any more. Then looks like Lanrwst or lanrwest I think it is from about 1790. but of coarse I'm not sure about the hallmarks. which order is for what.

If there are hallmarks in the case they would help date it.

The town is Llanrwst which is in Wales, I will see if I can narrow down the maker, there were quite a few Watkin's in Wales & the UK that were watchmakers.

After zooming in on your photo I think your watch might have been made by Watkin Owen of Llanrwst Wales. The last name is Owen, not sure why someone tried to remove his name. He was born about 1755 and died about 1809

It looks like a small e on the right hand side.

I'm glad they did not try removing the serial#. Then I would of not been able to buy.

It's definitely a lower case "e". It appeared to be sans serif at first but cannot find any sans serif year marks in the charts.

Otherwise the case could have been made in 1780, 1820 or 1900, by a London case maker.

Look like sterling silver (lion) London (lion head) & 1820 (lower case e in a semi-round background)they also used the lower case e in 1780 but it was more of a shield shape background, but you might be better able to tell with it in your hand. Not sure on the makers mark SP

Here is a copy of the two dates, they go by the letter and also the shape of the background but sometimes they are not real precise.

Is there a book that shows these Hallmarks side bt side that I can purchase.

I have looked at some on-line but I have yet to buy one myself.

Looks to me like it was made in London by a William Spring around 1820....

Watkin Owen is what I read also. Tom do you have a good way to put this verge in beat.

No not really, I use to just fiddle with them and use my timer to get them as close as I could. Since they were not the best time keeps to begin with I tried to just get as good as I could. All the ones I did were ones I planned on keeping for myself.
