German ? maker, help needed "Click" to Login or Register
posted
Hi all, just got hold of a silver hunter but cant find much info on the maker. I say its German because it has a crown and moon stamp. It also has a winged symbol and "Mercure" then what looks like a grouse or anyway a bird, and "R 800 F".
all 3 lids are numbered with same number as movement but there is no other info on the movement.. would like to find a maker and how old it is. will try pics later but the marks are pretty small
thanks in advance

Germany is a good guess as they manufactured many items in .800 silver pre-WWII, as witnessed by a set of flatware that I owned several years ago.

As for the other markings....well, 1 picture is worth 1000 words.

Cheers

Hi Martin, just tried to get a pic but what with flash and reflection the marks dont show at all.
to be clear the "mercure" is not the mercurys head export mark, its a symbol and the word Mercure.
