Brotherhood Spoon from Ball Watch Co.


Here's a cool item I just acquired. It's a souvenir silver spoon from the dedication of the B of LE building in Cleveland on May 14, 1910, issued by the Ball Watch Co.

Nice Ball commemorative spoon Ed.

Here is a Ball watch card holder commemorating the turning of the soil when the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers started building the Engineers Building in 1910.

The ninth biennial convention was held in Detroit in 1910, and the engineers, and their wives and friends took it special train from Detroit to commemorate the groundbreaking, here is a cover from my souvenir program

The 10th biennial convention was held in Harrisburg, PA, and the 1st triennial was held in the new Engineers Building in May 1915. Hear is a pair of the silver commemorative spoons from my collection.

A visitors badge to the 1915 1st Triennial convention held in the auditorium of the Engineers Building, all international conventions were held here on top 1986, when I had a chance to visit this beautiful building, a true landmark and historical part of Cleveland's heritage, unfortunately for Cleveland it was tough times in the 1980s, and I believe the Marriott Hotel group wanted the site for a new hotel, so the city of Cleveland, threatening eminent domain laws, forced the B of LE to sell them the building in 1987, and it was torn down soon after.

Here are a couple of other souvenirs. I was able to obtain from the Engineers Building in Cleveland. A son of door knobs that could be locked locked made by Yale, and mounted on the heavy hardwood the doors were made of.

Another BLE doorknob set I had made into bookends, for my books on my library desk.

Another set made into bookends, and highly polished, notice the steam locomotive drive wheels on the doorknob ends.
