Thanks Larry. That is the first likeness of Sidney Ball that I have seen.

Five years with Dueber! Must have left on good terms as Ball used Hampden for his first Standard Watches. When Hamilton started up in the early 1890's Ball moved his business to Hamilton.

Col Townsend stated that Dueber carried a personal Hampden watch with a Ball dial. Given Ball's later falling out with Dueber, I always thought that unlikely.

Thanks Larry, always fascinating to get glimpses into these personalities.

happy hunting

I too say... "Thanks a million Larry!"

This topic is yet another reason why the title "Railway Historian" is below Larry's name.

Is there any more on Sidney Ball? This is the first I have heard of him. He stood to inherit millions from sources not related to the watch business.
