Evening all.. I just received a 18s Bunn Special. It is marked 21 ruby jewels and adjusted (it doesn't have the usual adjusted to position and isochronism(sp?). It has a regular damascene pattern (not fish scale type). Serial number is 1536181. Any info would be appreciated. Bruce Bruce Byrd

Your Bunn Special is a Model 6 and was finished in 1900. The adjusted to 6 positions, etc. marking wasn't added until after 1905, when it was required by changes to railroad time service rules. Best Regards, Ed

Bruce, Just to fill out Ed's information this is one of only 400 Made this way. Yours was part of the second 100 piece run made in 1900. The other 300 were made, 100 in 1899 and 200 in 1902. They seemed to include a number of Private Label named movements. This rare variant was intermingled with production of a "sister" 21J movement with a Two-Tone Gold Damaskeened Circle on the Top plate made in much greater numbers (over 18,000) from 1894-1903 and marked "adjusted 6 positions". The few made like yours do not have the Gold Damaskeened part or mention of their 6 position adjustments.

Thanks Ed and Dave for the info. Dave, it's interesting.. The damascene pattern is the same as the two tone movements, just without the two tone. you just confirmed what I was thinking.. Thanks again for the info Bruce Byrd
