30 Years ago one could still buy a NICE Gold Filled like new 18 Size watch for 100-200 Nowdays, they are 1 in 1000 no more of those left (in that price range) I am trying to sell/restore 18 Size RR Grade and/or Approved Pocketwatches while still trying to keep them affordable and it is getting to be a monumental task. The good average ones have been long scrapped/parted out and are pretty much history, unless you want to pay in the 300-400 range for a like new one still together...the parts are worth more than the complete watch! Many of you already know this, take the two tone 18S 17J Model 1892 PSB I just listed here: https://ihc185.infopop.cc/eve/f...6095371/m/2383931987 This came to me as a movement only, no case dial or hands, I personally like this model a lot as it is quite beautiful when still nice as this one was, so I endeavored to restore it to sell, the goal being to bring it back while trying to keep the price as reasonable as possible. The movement was missing the correct large rachet wheel screw and collar so I sourced and replaced those. Then sourced the correct dial and hands. The case was the hardest part. To me, these 2 tones just do not look good in anything but a yellow gold filled case. After searching for awhile, I found a pretty nice 25 Year Crescent Hinged case that will show off the watch properly while not breaking the bank cost wise. The end result turned out pretty nice as you can see but in order to sell it at a price people can live with I am having to sell it at about what I have in it...of course I COULD ask more but then it would never sell, I also COULD have put a beautiful case on it but that would have put the price tag up another $150 or so and it would never sell. I love bringing these old guys back but unfortunately I cannot continue doing this too much longer. It's a shame but this is what we have come to. | ||
