Question on stem "Click" to Login or Register
posted
The first 16 size pocket watch I ever bought was a 15 j Waltham and it was in a new stainless case. For years the stem pulled up easily to set time, now I have to use pliers to get it to click up, what is the matter with it it had been in the safe for several years, I have tried a little oil but it didnt work. Thanks Jeff

Jeff, NO MORE PLIERS PLEASE.

It is due for a cleaning, the "goo" that lubricated the winding stem and stuff is now hardening into concrete. One pull with the pliers and you will have an expensive repair.

David you were right, I pulled the movement and put in another case and I oiled the inside of the case where the stem sticks out and laid it up on a cabinet and today I picked it up and pulled it and it worked like it was supposed to, Thanks Jeff
