My newest acquisition: Hamilton 940 with Canadian Dial "Click" to Login or Register
posted July 12, 2012 17:16
Once again I am on holidays and just picked up this, what I think, is a rather nice 940 marked hamilton, with a 24 hr Cdn dial, and if not mistaken in a Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen marked case.
Give me your thoughts and remarks please, there is a H/L on what appears to be a triple sunk dial at the 2 position. Other than that looks and seems to run well, lots of service marks on the case, so believe it was well looked after.
Does the BRT case add value to the watch ??
Thanks,
Bill

Nice. I would say the case would add value to those who like railroad items.

If you didn't know, your watch was sold to the Montreal Watch Company in Montreal in December of 1909.

Nice watch, the longer I look at 18s watches the more I like them.

Nice watch Bill. I have the 631553, same dial.

Finished 05/25/09 & sold 12/16/09 to the Montreal Watch Co. so your watch and mine left home at the same time and went to Montreal together.

Lorne,
Thats only 9 watches apart, pretty close.
John,
I love the dial also, I have taken a real liking to these 24 hr. dials.
Anyone,
were these dials made specifically for Cdn service by Hamilton ? and this appears to be a triple sunk dial ?
Thanks for all the comments and information,
Bill

I would think that the Montreal Watch Co. ordered the the watches with those dials for use in Canada so I guess the answer is yes.

To me it is a double sunk dial. I have seen dials with a wind indicator (Non-Hamilton) referred to as triple sunk.
