3/4 Plate Elgin Dial Question "Click" to Login or Register

posted
On the Elgin 18s 3/4 Plate movements (Veritas/240/etc - Model 8). Will the dials interchange between a 19j, 21j, and 23j OF movement?

Thanks...

Swap and drop as long as it is from another 3/4 plate. Full plates the news is not as good, since the feet from the full and 3/4 are different.

Thanks Claude...

Is there a difference between the 3/4 plate hunter and OF dial feet location?

I hear ya on the full plates - yikes!

No, not that I am aware of, they followed the same pattern with the 3/4 18 as they did with the 3/4 16. On the 16 you can put swap dials between OF/HC and that is true for the 18 OF/HC.

I think both the 17J GMW (368/369) 18 3/4 plate and the 21J (412) came with DS dials. Off the top of my head I can't think of too many 18s-3/4 that were SS.
