Can anyone advise me which is the best oil to use in Pocket watches and or Wrist watches please ? Various books seem to recommend different grades for the various watch parts. I really think that now we are out of the steam age we should be using better oils I thought that I would use synthetic oil. Here in the UK, Cousins ( The biggest materials house ) have 2 grades. 9010 Moebius - Small to Medium size movements. Viscosity @ 20 deg C = 150 cSt. Moebius 9020 - Larger size movements. Viscosity @ 20 deg C = 270cSt. Or doesn't it really matter as the watches I am going to be working with will sit on display when they are done. I only wear two watches on a regular basis, my best is an Omega Seamaster Professional and my everyday working watch is a Casio G-Shock,shock resistant, powered by daylight, and timed by radio signals, a fantastic watch. I hope this doesn't offend anyone but my vintage watches aren't suitable for wearing in the garden or on a building site !!! | |||
