Regarding the Hamilton 950B, when did the spade hands give way to the newer ones? I'm guessing the very late '40's?? Jim

Jim, Baton hands you mean? Good question. Aaron Bereiter NAWCC# 156432 Very Proud IHC Charter #55 You will never prosper if you live your life in fear.

only an opinion..... when the 379 dial became available on the 950b... but, there is still the possiblity the rr track/baton hand combo was not the only combination on the early watches... have to see some factory ads/product lists to make that determination...

Jim and Aaron, As I understand it the first 950B watches sold in the US had "baton" hands and the "RR track" around the circumference of the dial. This began upon the introduction in 1940 and is the way we normally picture the 950B. It was only toward the end, when Hamilton was essentially running out of material that we see the plainer melamine dials and the "tulip" style hands we normally associate with the 992B used on some of the 950B watches. In Canada, there were of course variations which were exclusive to the Canadian market, and as Terry pointed out there may one day be evidence surface to indicate the existence of US variations as well.
