Hi guys, I just got a watch with a huge diamond end stone, and I was wondering do the end stones increase the value of the watch a significant ammount or do they vary in value watch to watch, thanking in advance good sirs! Francesco.

While it will make the watch more valuable to a watch collector. The diamond isnt high quality or very large. Probably what is called fashion quality today. So in and of itself isnt going to add lots and lots of value.

Some higher end American Waltham and Elgin watches have up to 4 Diamond endstones in their higher cost watches. While some mention is made in the price guide about these, nothing is evidence for higher values. The extra value for those is presumed to be for the collector who needs that variant (I suppose). Many of the early Fusee Watches finished by the English watchmakers seemed to sport rather large cut diamond endstones, but unfortunately that seems to do little to improve an already hapless price level for those masterpieces.

From a practical perspective, the diamond endstone shouldn't pit as readily as others. Pitting causes endshake to increase as well as friction and wear of the pivot end. If the watch were serviced regularly and the jewels properly oiled, pitting would be almost non-existent. That said, I don't often see endstones so badly pitted that they are a problem, but I do see some bad ones on occasion.

I second what the others said. From a buyer perspective though its a huge WOW factor.
