Hey Tom, thanks for the info. The dial is a single sunk Hamilton. Probably not the origional. I acquired this watch as a movement only and after effecting repairs I installed it in a gold filled open face case. The plates are in nice condition. I really felt luck getting this much of it.

Thanks again, Chuck England

Shows you how much we really are just temporary caretakers. Old Frank Harvey died two months before I was born. Smile

I think that is neat to have a watch from Oklahoma before it became a state.

Phillip, I also had found where his wife lived until around 1966.

Tom, My heart skipped a beat when I saw that old movement laying there. Blackwell is right on the north northwestern Oklahoma Kansas border in Kay county. LOL, Oklahoma being the cultural center of the universe.

Here is a little info on Blackwell OK., had rail service.

On September 16th, 1893 the greatest land run of all time occurred when the Cherokee Outlet was opened for settlement. With the firing of a cannon shot, over 50,000 people raced across the Kansas-Oklahoma border by horse, mule and wagon to claim a share of six million acres of land on the first day.

The City of Blackwell was founded overnight. Within weeks, Blackwell had a population of several thousand. Within the next two years, a thriving Main Street business district existed with stagecoach lines and rail service connecting Blackwell to the rest of the country.

I didn't even notice you were from Oklahoma, guess I don't need to give you any Oklahoma history.

Been to OK City a few times, spent a week in a homicide school there right after the bombing.

Hey guys, this is really good stuff. We learn and we learn. Oklahoma being the cultural center of the universe is where every great thing happened or is still happening. Thanks, Chuck Big Grin
Tom, I remember they made a movie about the Ok land rush with Nichole Kidman and that little short runt.

Yeah, I remember that movie, I wasn't too impressed. I have read a few books about the land rush there, pretty interesting history. I also remember when I was in school there asking why the state had so many counties & I was told that when the state was settled they wanted the travel time from anywhere in a county to the county seat to not be an over night horse trip.

No problem on my end, my son has a choice saying about my town, it is pretty much the opposite of yours.

Chuck, I see humor in everything. One of the greatest problems when we banter here at 185 is how to show your humor (especially when it is tongue in cheek)in little black and white letters.
In the past we have had a few members who constantly had an agenda. They are now ALL gone.
I thought your statement on Oklahoma was funny and tried to respond the same way.
These emoticons Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Smile help, however they cannot show the inflections of face to face.
Chuck, we enjoy your posts, please keep posting and inject your humor, it is great.
