Waltham Mdl 1883 Gr. 825 17j "Click" to Login or Register
posted
I am looking at this watch and am unsure of the markings on the plates.
On the bridge plate above the "American Waltham" there is an engraved "special".
Does anyone know what this signifies, should it be there, is it an uncommon mark, etc.
Thanks for any insight,
I do not have it in hand so no pics are available,
Bill

well, I guess I should have bought it, as it appears to have been so uncommon no one has ever seen one here, another one got away from me, as it was sold.

Dave,
I guess i could have done that, but was asking what the "special" signified, and with my lack of knowledge felt it did not matter. The s/n is 14308023.
That'll tell you its a Grade 825, 17j Mdl 1883, really a lackluster movement, nickle, but it hadthat special on the bridge plate ??
