got a hamilton time-pilot with a 974 movement#1687272.how old is it,is this a proper movement for it...this same movement came with a case at jones-horan.com- so i would like an idea on an half-way correct case.THANKS

nice one I will look for mid 1920's case for this one as for dial looks correct to me but lets wait
and see what others have to say.

Tim, Sorry to be 2 weeks behind on your Time Pilot question, but I hope you are still checking your starting thread for comments.

The "Time Pilot" dial was one of several special dials made by Hamilton primarily for retail jewelers. To these custom dials, jewelers added a Hamilton movement and case of their choosing (or of the customer's choosing). Movement grades were usually the 17j - 974, but also in a few grade 956's and 978's, and the 21j - grade 992.

My opinion is that any nice looking open face case would set your watch off in good style. I think Peter answered your question as to age of the movement. The only minor flaw might be the second hand which looks to be a replacement.
