Tony Dukes (or anyone else for that matter),

Awhile back you noticed a special dial on one of my 60 hour 19 jewel Bunn watches. It was the "Fat 6, Flat 3" montgomery dial which is considered very valuable. I have since acquired another one, But while looking through ebay I came across this watch, same style but only single sunk. Lindell had never seen one and I was wondering if you or anyone else could comment on its rarity. I contacted the seller and he said it was porcilain enamel. I have been watching this for a week and was out watering the plants from this horrendous heatwave we have had and looked at my watch. It was the time for the auction to end and I ran into the house and just missed it. The watch went for $218.00 and I was really upset with myself. So, what do think of the dial? Valuable or not?

Steve,
I do not recall seeing this dial. If it is the real deal then I think it is an uncommon dial. I wish you had won the auction and the dial.

Steve,
Thanks for the post. It does appear that there is a single sunk and double sunk version of this dial. Hope someone can post pics of these 2 versions side by side. Smile

Tony,
Here they are side by side so you can see them on the same screen.

Lindell,

Thanks for doing that. I know you have a Mac so I won't ask how. I was playing with Microsoft Paint and kind of got it but I still have to figure a few things out. Man I wish I had gotten that watch. I contacted the winning bidder and asked if he was interested in selling it and making a few dollars but haven't heard back yet.

Tom,

They look like the real deal to me. And here I thought I was the only one with a set. Welcome to the club. The single sunk looks perfect from here.

Thanks Steve

The single sunk doesn't have any flaws that I can see, Chris Abell has it right now, it is on a Bunn 60 hour that the balance wheel needed some major adjusting to.

I picked up the double sunk on a Ebay buy it now or best offer, it was on a Illinois 21 jewel 3 adj. watch with a broken staff, they had poor photos & none with the front bezel off, I bought it to replace a damaged regular Montgomery dial on another Bunn, I got the watch & dial for $80 but when I got it it had the damage you can see at the 40-42 minute mark, you can't see it with the bezel on but it is still there.

I am thinking of auctioning both off here on IHC.

Tom,

I would put the single sunk on the 21 jewel and the double sunk on the 60 hour. Both should be mid twenties movements though to be correct but that really doesn't matter that much.

Thanks Steve, the 60 hour is from 1927, is that too late, it originally had a regular Illinois Montgomery dial double sunk on it but it was damaged to bad.

Tom,

That should be ok. That was near the time they were phasing out the old and bringing in the new. I had one that came on a 1926 19 jewel 60 hour.
