How Would You Describe This Plate.....? "Click" to Login or Register

This is an 18-size Waltham Wm. Ellery, 15 jewel nickel movement, s/n 2425829.

It is lightly damaskeened but the movement is dull, not shiny. Would it then be properly described as being 'frosted' also?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Marty

Martin, I believe that is the Frosted movement style. Looks very nice.

Thanks for that Gary.

Would that feature increase the value across the board for all or just to those of us who look for features like that?

Martin your s/n 2425829 Waltham is a fairly rare Model 1877 Hunter with a 15 Jewel movement. It is certainly valuable as one of the end of the line 77's. The Damaskeening is inventive and covers all the top plate area but is not "frosted". Frosted was an acid etch process used on the plates before damaskeening leaving a pronounced frosted surface around the damaskeened areas. (see below . . . NOTE, this frosted movement has a somewhat comical replacement of the regulator arm too Cool)
