David AbbeThe neatest Planetary gear setting mechanism I have ever seen and the Barrel cover and Pillar Plate Serial numbers match. I have some top wheels that would work on this, but need a lever. Anybody seen one of these things before?

Brian C.Hi Dave,
The serial number comes back as a model 2, grade 70. I looked the set lever up in my parts book and it says the part number is 48. I have a nos part #48 but it doesn't match yours. If I remember right, about ten years ago I ran into this type of movement and I believe they called it a ring gear movement, but I not sure. It's an interesting movement.
I'll check my parts movements and see if I have anything.

John W. ClarkIn a movement such as the one shown which appears to be somewhat uncommon. How do you go about determining which are original parts and which are parts that have been fabricated to remedy a problem?

David AbbeThe answer to that is "only God Knows"! (Or Maybe we can get Lindell to jump in his time machine and go ask Elgin in about 1876.
