Very nice work Jon. I'm just starting to understand how challenging it can be to assemble all the appropriate parts into a credible example.

Looks nice. Can't wait until my 942 gets to the rework table. Jon did you replace the dial or repair it?

Thanks Evan and Harry...

Harry - Would love to go to the Lindell school of dial repair. Still a chicken little, or maybe still have a couple of close to mint dials tucked away to prevent learning the art of dial repair.

How close is your 942 in serial #?

Very nice Jon! I've found that a lot of dials have a problem at the lever. My 940 has got a chip starting there. I think it is because the lever snaps back with such a force that it chips the dial. I try to ease it back in gently. Brad

Jon, nice 942! Mine is SN# 178,964 and I've had it several years. You really don't see a lot of these on the sales block very often. Nice find and a keeper.

I replaced the dial with this one. I do not know if the script Hamilton is correct, or the script Hamilton Watch Co. It may be that this was a transitional period. Someone will know.

Mike,

Nice one!!!

Around 1905 Hamilton went to the short script like on the dial you have posted...

Grade: 942

Estimated Production Year: 1902

Yup - You would need a full script DS dial

Next task to procure that 943 might be a tad harder

OK Jon, I do have a "full script dial" and so I should install it. My watches are mostly in Oregon and I'm in AZ. I do have a 943 that I bought from Tom Dunn. As you know, they are harder yet to find, and, a bit more dear!

Nice HC on this one as well. I was experimenting with my light box when I took these photos. The red background kind of "bleeds" into the images.
