Hello Everyone,
I just want to introduce myself, My name is Mike Penson. I am quite new to collecting and very new to IHC185. Already I've been welcomed most warmly by several of our members. I just can't tell you how much this means to me. This isn't the easiest hobby (?) to break into, and I can't think of a better entry than IHC185. I want especially thank those of you who have taken time to write to me off list and at length. In particular I wish to thank Lindell and Marty. I'll send you my Aetna group number and you can submit your bills for counseling. Outside of "185" the world of collecting watches seems like some sort of closed society. I can't wait for the "secret handshake". Here I have been welcomed like a family member. So, when you folks see me stumbling about our pages, posting inane comments and botching auction details at least now you'll know its just me. The new guy. Better get used to me, I ain't leaving.

Thanks Ted & Lindell, its really great to be part of this group. No matter what the issue, it seems 185 has an expert ready to step up and help. At this point I don't have very much to offer in watches, but I am going to learn. I welcome any and all guidance. Hopefully, in the not too distant future I will be paying it forward to another newbie.

Mike, what I have learned in this group would have taken a lifetime if I left my head in the "sands of time" flowing over some of the other venues. Here it is fun, and entertaining, with lots of constructive opinions, and no "experts", just us "students of Horology", . . . and then there is Lindell's "secret time machine" Eek

Hi Mike and Welcome.
You will find 185 a great resource. I do some business in the Ledgewood / Netcong area in Jersey. Is that close to you?

My sincere thanks to everyone. Scott, I live about 45 miles from Ledgewood. As I recall thats a decent part of the state. Remember our motto: NJ, arrive on vacation, leave on probation. I am grateful for the reception I've received here at 185. This truly is a supportive environment and I'll do whatever I can to get other newbies involved with our group. My special thanks to Marty for reaching out. And Everybody! This could sound like an Awards speech. Just a terrific place to be.
