I enjoy the presentations my fellow members give us of their watches both fabulous and mundane. This is one of the latter. I purchased it for several reasons. I like the higher grade Waltham model 1888 movements and pick them up when I can. This is a mid grade Royal model, so not what I normally go for, bur the whole package of the watch, worn case and all, makes it one of my favorites. There is text painted on the fancy dial, which I usually don't like, but looks good here, and adds some real history to the watch. Chas. A Becker (CAB on watch case) Went of the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo NY in 1901. The case has a Knights of Pythias logo. What is cool is the skull with green glass/stone eyes. So nothing fabulous, just a fairly gaudy Victorian watch with it's own unique personality.

Kevin, if that is in a hunter case (it looks like that is.) than you have a very nice package. AS warning about the painted dial, the markings are probably NOT waterproof. So be very careful when cleaning it as those exposition marks add to the uniqueness of the watch.

Thank you all for your kind comments. The painted lettering on the dial is one of the charming features of the watch, and the dial will probably never be cleaned while in my possession. I have very few fancy dials with no damage. I do have, however a whole bag of really trashed out dials which show the general type of enameling which was done. I look at them occasionally and imagine them in their youth.
