Earliest 992b serial # recorded with 17 case is around 1957.

One word answer... NO!

But seriously Jerry, let us know what you find inside the case-back.

The first catalog showing the 17 was 1958 if I recall correctly, however they were available before that.

Earliest Model 17 cases bore the Keystone markings you'll see when following the link Charlie provided. I have no pictures of this one as yet, but the earliest one in my collection is marked Keystone and here are the particulars.

Movement C437646 which we feel is 1956 production.

Case is number K099820 marked Hamilton / Keystone RR Model.

That one is the lowest number 992B in Case 17 combination I am aware of.

Jerry,

What else do you find? Sounds like that is a Hamilton RR Keystone marked case. Check the link Charlie provided for that particular marking. Your case number is mid-1950s from the information we've accumulated at this point.

And just for fun, what is the movement number?

Jerry,
These 3 cases would be correct for the 1941-42 timeframe.
