A friend just obtained a 944. Aside from the jewel count what differentiates this watch from any other Hamilton in the 940 series? | |||

Hi Jerry, The 19-Jewel 944 is a special favorite of mine. Main differences are damaskeening, markings of course and as you mentioned the jeweling. I have the one you'll see in the image below number 521015 and a later "fully-marked" example. That later one, number 552985 has "944" above the Hamilton signature "Motor" to the left and "Barrel" to the right of the barrel jewel and "Adjusted 5 Positions" above the Lancaster, Pa marking. Otherwise it's the same as what you see in the image below. In this image I angled the light to better show damaskeening details. Here's a sharp 944 number 521015 up close... ![]() | |||
