It will be interesting to see the photos. I hope I am not the bearer of bad news. The only info I can find on the Massasoit Watch Co. Boston Mass is that they are Swiss fakes, they made a 18S 11J according to page 344 of American Pocket Watches by Meggers.

Michael, "Massasoit" is one of the names used on some swiss made Movements contrived to look and "sound" like US made watches. If you already have it and it is still running, keep it as an example of that type of watch. If this is on eBay or someone is trying to sell it to you WATCH OUT, they are nearly worthless.

Michael, this is, as it turns out to be a relative inexpensive learning lesson for you and one that is shared by many in IHC815....

Dave & Tom have given you some information that will help you understand some of the pitfalls that we all face....

Here is a prior discussion of regarding swiss fakes and I thought you may find it interesting....

Why Swiss Fakes

Yes thank God it was a inexpensive lesson . Got to carry my book , I usually buy between 20 to 30 pocket watches a month and a expensive fake could
be verry bad for me . thank you all for the imput.

I have seen several, of the Massasoit watches and they were all Swiss fakes. I seem to remember one that was a pretty good fake of a Waltham1857 key wound? As far as I know Massasoit ism the name of an American Indian tribe and never was an American watch.
