I would like to thank all of you who have patiently answered my questions and given me advice as I learn the ins and outs of watch collecting.

I never realized it could be so interesting and time consuming. I still have much to learn so your advice is always greatly appreciated. If you do not want to answer on a post an email would be appreciatged.

Welcome David I'm just past my first anniverary of membership in IHC 185. I'm a retired (42 years) College Professor/Department Head...as I always said in orientation remarks to new classes, "the only dumb question is the one you fail to ask".

So in line with that philosopy I asked many questions this first year and got a lot of education. Many times I was pointed to how to use the searches to find discussions from the past; but there were always some new takes on old subjects. The members are pretty quick to seperate facts versus opinions and help with most any topic.

You have landed in a good spot; take advantage of the sage advice, but trust your own instincts as well. The value of collectables is very much in the eye of the individual collector.

David, Welcome and your are welcome to continue unabated with any eploration of Mankind's instruments of time which we all share a great fascinstion with.

"Knowing the time", an absurdity which we commonly believe is what separates man "from the (other) Animals"* is most rewarding for countless reasons.

Joining an organization as "fractally" involved as IHC185 with these many aspects of our measure of time is what is real fun because of the countlessly honest veiwpoints we share.

* Judging from the animals that have let me know them a little, their perception of time seems to be limited to "What is happening now?", which may also be another lesson we need to keep in mind as we speculate on our greatness.
