I was enterring data into a new watch database today when I discovered two consecutive numbered watches that I was previously unaware of.
The first I purchased many years ago and is a private label Illinois model 4, grade 173, 15 jewels with serial # 1,535,913 and marked Walter Scott on the movement and dial.
The second watch I picked up a few months back and has serial # 1,535,912 it is nearly identical to the the other but is marked "Jos. Welf & Sons Co, Cleveland, O." The dial is marked Illinois Watch Co.
Both appear to have been recased.

Does anyone else have any consecutive numbered watches to share ?.

Congrats Ray, that's a nice find. I don't have any consecutive pairs myself, but I know that several members do. Lin Riddle and Tony Dukes are a couple that come to mind.

Well, I don't have a matching set of winding indicators, but I DO have a sequential set of hidden-hinge, 14k 12size cases... With Riverside Maximus movements (not sequential, but only 2,070 apart..)

and here are the case numbers....

While not sequential, I also have a set of two Hamilton 960 (751387 and 389) and another set of Hamilton 922 (3011637 and 639) that are OFF BY ONE... :-( If anyone knows where the inbetween numbers are, I'd be happy to buy it and make THREE IN A ROW ! :-)
Noteworthy is that the first Ham960 of the set is unmarked, while 751389 IS marked "960"....

Ray, as Lindell pointed out, this is usually only by coincidence. :-) The Walthams (sequential cases) I bought from the same guy, on the same day, and didn't notice the numbers were sequential until hours later on the drive home. The Hamilton 922 set are the ONLY 922s I've ever bought, and again noticed it after I was cleaning them and recording in my log. The 960 is similar, except I've had the unmarked 960 for 15 years, and just recently purchased the other one. Would be fun to fill in the gaps, probably a better chance with the 960 just because I pay attention to them more (and fewer of them around).

Hard to believe out of the millions of watches and cases sold around the world that by coincidence they would someday be reunited in the same collection. Even with the movement's being one apart it's still hard to believe.
