1890 Hampden Size 18 help
I can't post photos now, but I have a Hampden Pocket Watch Serial Number 757887 that has the exact same looking movement as the Canadian Pacific R.W. at the top of page 242 of the 2013 Complete Price Guide to Watches. Instead of being engraved Canadian Pacific R. W. it has: CANTON,O. and under that Hampden Watch CO. and under that SPECIAL and under that -ADJUSTED-. It is a lever set movement with stem wind. The case is a Fahys Coin No.1 case serial number G7090.

Welcome Bob,

The Hampden Watch Co. book by Hernick and Arnold is showing your watch as an open face model 3 lever set watch. The watches with serial numbers near it are either private labels or a grade 67. What is printed on the dial?

Nice,

It's a 17 jewel watch grade No. 67 from about 1890. The watch is showing as RRG - Railroad Grade.

Wow, thanks a bunch Richard, that is exactly my watch. It is in a Fahys Coin Silver No. 1 case. The Movement swings out of the front and then has to be opened again from the back to expose the movement. It is quite heavy, never weighed it. It is not running, but the hands can be advanced. The case has no major wear but a couple of minor dings. I am wondering about where to find the value so I can decide whether to have it serviced. Can you tell me where I can look up the value?
