Does anyone have knowledge as to the gold content of a case marked "Warranted" with a standing lion facing left as you look at it? I would suppose it is plated, but prior to 1900 who knows?

I don't think a solid gold case would be marked "warranted." That probably referrs to the guarantee that the gold filled case would not wear through the gold for a certain number of years.

actually, many solid gold cases are marked "warranted" in fact quite a high percentage of the marks are so composed as an examination of the Solid gold case marks in the 2010 Watch guide will show, and a large majority of the gold filled cases are marked "guaranteed" with a smaller percent marked "warranted"!!! A picture of the case mark and maker's name would sure help ??? ![]() ![]()
