I am trying to clean & get running a fusee movement that has a jewelers name in Manchester NH. The watch is in a hunter case with the below listed makers mark. The case number matches the serial number of the watch. I can not make out the 1st letter of the case maker, maybe "V". The case is stamped Chicago so I am assuming it was made there. Any ideas of the maker. Tom ![]()

Hi Tom The first letter that came to my mind when I saw the picture was "J". I think it´s too rounded in the bottom for a "V". Regards Krister

Tom, I agree with Krister that the first letter is a "J." I have a lot of experience with calligraphy having graduated from Parsons School of Design and worked as a graphic designer right up 'til retirement. Good luck researching it ![]()

Thanks Brian, I hadn't been able to find anything. I will post some more photos when I get this done, the watch is from your neck of the woods, it is from a jeweler in Manchester that I find in the city directories there back to 1844 (it is the earliest directory I can find so he might even be earlier) Tom
