Often in the pictures I published of my stuff in the past, you might have noticed my "little blue organizer" thingy on my bench . . .

You can see that I have grouped what (is in my mind) the distinctly separate working components of the watch. This is to reduce the "hunting for the next part" time while reassembling them by function or type. To that end I always keep the top jewels, jewel screws amd Balance Cock attachment screw in the center "pocket" as I NEVER wish to mix the jewels.

As all of these nice shiny parts are cleaned in my L&R "Spin Cleaner", I also endeavor to keep this same separation of the parts while they are in the cleaner . . .

The large basket I use with two "slip in" baskets. and to get everything clean without mixing everything up, first I put the Mainspring and main movement plate in the bottom of the basket. Next I put in my 3 insert basket with the parts organized and separated as pictured below. (Note I put all the most delicate stuff in the middle so they are disturbed the least while cleaning). Then I fill the plain basket with the small movement plates, motor barrel and barrel cover. That helps "contain" the small stuff which is sandwiched in the middle basket during spin cleaning.

The smaller basket is sorted out the same way but with respect to its different types of little "cubby's" to put stuff.

To this end, I credit this organization of parts to not losing any parts. I hope that my little pictorial suggest ways you can deal with this same matter which is compatible with your working on these little beasties.

Here's a suggestion. When removing any hole jewel that is covered with a cap jewel, put the hole jewel back in it's place along with the screws. That way you won't get them mixed up.

That is true, I try to do that when there are more than 1 pair of capped Jewels on each side as in the "popular" 21 Jewel Movements.
