I have an Elgin Gr123 that needs some cleaning and oiling. My question is regarding scarcity and value. I'll probably be selling this but have no idea if it should be COAed prior to listing, or simply sell as is. I know these are fairly rare.

Silver (coin) case with a worn locamotive on back.

As usual I solicit comments from any and all.

Hello Mike....here is the data on the Grade 123 and s/n 4885082 from the Elgin Database:

Serial Number SN Range RunQty Name Year grade size code jewels Adj/reg/etc.
-------------- -------- ------ ---- ---- ----- ---- ------ ------ ------------
4885082 4884001 2000 1891 123 18s ofg5p 15-17j Adj
9082 of 13000 in grade

grade total runs first yr last yr class size code jewels Adj/name
----- ----- ----- -------- ------- ----- ---- ------ ------ ----------
123 13000 7 1891 1893 9 18s ofg5p 15-17j Adj

There were 7 runs made of this grade from 1891 to 1893....

If you are going to sell this one, I wouldn't do and COA, just let the new owner do one if necessary....just my opinion though....

Regards,

Jerry
